About the Speakers:
John Cook, Cook Bros. Homes President and Chief Executive Officer
John coordinates all aspects of how Cook Bros. Homes functions. He facilitates a culture of continuous improvement and growth, while developing referral partner relationships that benefit both our clients and the company. John discovered his lifelong interest in how things work and how to improve them at a young age. After high school, he enrolled in Eastern Illinois University, studying Industrial Technology with a Manufacturing emphasis. After graduating with a B.S. degree from the Honors Program in 2001, John and his brother Ralph relocated to East Tennessee. When the brothers started Cook Bros. Construction in 2004, John handled all accounting functions for the company, utilizing his uncanny ability to accurately estimate costs. His insight into the building process allowed him to identify potential problems before they ever developed, and to see a 360-degree view of a new home opportunity. When not at the helm of Cook Bros., John enjoys spending time with his wife Ashley and daughter Olivia, lifting weights, and riding his Harley Davidson. He enjoys boating, and football - especially UT (Go Vols!) and the Chicago Bears (da' Bears!).
Alan Van Why, Noble Knights Construction Services, Inc. President and Founder
Alan fulfilled his dream by obtaining a Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Tennessee. After working for a structural engineer and commercial architect, he opened Noble Knights, an award-winning design/build firm. With over 15 years of experience, Alan oversees all four divisions of the company with a focus on delivering exceptional quality on all Noble Knights projects.
