Urgent - HBAGK Members Take Action!!
We need all HBAGK members to attend the final vote on the Hillside and Ridgetop Plan from MPC. This important vote is on Monday April 25, 2011 at 6:00 pm. The vote will be held in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building at 400 West Main Street in downtown Knoxville. This vote will take only an hour or so of your time. We need you there.
Some of our most prestigious subdivisions are on rolling hills throughout the county. Sequoyah Hills, Holston Hills, West Hills, Crestwood Hills, Concord Hills and Suburban Hills are very nice places to live. They all have moderate slopes in the 15% range.
This important vote will be a change to the General Plan and all Sector Plans from the Knox Country Metropolitan Planning Commission that could affect your ability to sell new homes on rolling hills that prospective homeowner’s desire. This vote on the Ridgetop/Hillside Protection Plan from MPC will:
· Put difficult cost restrictions on new home construction on any property with a slope of 15% or more reducing new home inventory
· New construction of needed affordable housing will be too costly on any property with a 15% slope or greater
· Create uncertainty and stall sales in the local real estate market
· Affect over 140,000 acres of property in Knox County
· Have a dramatic affect on our community’s ability to grow in the future
· Take property rights out of our hands and place it in the hands of the government
This is bad business for Knox County Builders, Realtors, Suppliers, Subs and Knox County property owners. For more information please watch these brief YouTube videos:
Email your Knox County Commissioner TODAY! Be very nice and explain we want them to vote this plan down because it will harm our industry and infringe on the rights of property owners. Tell them we do not want another 30 day delay and that we want them to vote Monday. This is very important.
And please join us at 6:00 pm vote on Monday April 25th so your voice can be heard. Come by the HBAGK office Monday around 5:00 pm to pick up signs and car pool with your Association Members if you would like. The Realtors will have an “after the vote” get together at Latitude 35 on Market Square where we can discuss this vote and the future city elections and how they relate to our industry. And of course to have some fun. Which we need to do more often. We are all in this together.
